Summer Activities You Won’t Want to Miss in Bellflower, California

Summer is a fun-filled time of year, with the kids out of school and lots of barbecuing and festivals for people to enjoy. There are plenty of fun things to do during the summer, especially when the 4th of July rolls around and people get together for barbecues, pool time, and fireworks. In 2021, an estimated $2.4 billion was spent on fireworks and $7.7 billion was expected to be spent on Fourth of July food in 2022.

There are lots of fun summer activities in Bellflower, California, for families to enjoy this summer. Whether you are looking for a good time on the Fourth of July or events to keep you busy throughout the season, you won’t be disappointed in what Bellflower has to offer. Here are some awesome events and activities you won’t want to miss this summer.

Summer Activities

Check Out the Farmer’s Market

There’s nothing quite like fresh, local produce, and the farmer’s market is a fantastic place to try a variety of fruits, vegetables, and other locally made goods. The Bellflower Farmer’s Market can be found at the Town Center Plaza every Monday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A variety of vendors will be on hand, selling fresh fruits and vegetables, honey and bee pollen, and even eggs. Visitors can also buy baked goods, including bread, muffins, bagels, and treats. Tamales and corn in a cup can also be found, as well as dried fruit and nuts. It will be hard to leave the farmer’s market without your arms and belly full.

Send the Kids to RECESS

School may be out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean the kids can’t still enjoy their recess. Bellflower is hosting a RECESS program for kids ages six to 12 in several sessions between June and August 2022. The two-day sessions are held at Thompson Park and will include recreational and educational activities that will keep kids entertained. Kids will get moving with exercise and sports, and their brains will get some exercise with games, crafts, puzzles, and other events.

Kids Summer Park Activities

The park is always a hit with the kids, and heading to a local park this summer is sure to help them stay active and busy while school is out. While all of the parks in Bellflower are great options for the whole family, three of them are hosting special activities just for kids. Check out the supervised events daily at Caruthers Park , Simms Park , and Thompson Park . These parks will have daily activities throughout the summer for kids of all ages.

No matter your kids’ interests, they will find something to keep them entertained at the parks. They can participate in various tournaments, dodgeball, bingo, movies, water fun, crafts, and more. In addition, parents can register their kids for classes at these parks, including tumbling, painting, science, soccer, and volleyball.

Head to the Pool

The summer heat can get stifling, but the city aquatic center can bring some relief. The Bellflower Aquatic Center at Thompson Park is not only a great place to cool off, but it also has plenty of fun activities for the family all summer. Kids ages seven to 10 can participate in a Splash and Fun camp and build diving skills, learn water polo, and enjoy water games. Beginners and more experienced water polo fans ages seven to 14 can sign up for a water polo camp and develop their skills. Young swimmers can enjoy recreation time at the pool, and adults can swim laps. The family can also enjoy a couple of dive-in movies at the aquatic center. If your kids aren’t quite ready for swimming, head to Caruthers Park and cool off at the splash pad instead.
